INSTRUMENT RATING PACKAGE

Fifty hours of cross-country pilot-in-command (PIC) time are required to qualify for the instrument rating. Prior to starting an Instrument training course, the student must complete this requirement which is listed under Part 61 of the Code of Federal Aviation Regulations. Adler Air's instrument program incorporates a Basic Aviation Training Devices (BATD) PI-135 . This device is used to teach aircraft control and procedures such as VOR radial and approach course interception. It can also be used for instrument currency (6 approaches within 6 months to act as PIC). Ten hours of training can be logged and counted towards the required 40 (simulated or actual) instrument hours which are needed to qualify for an instrument rating. The remaining 30 are built during the instrument training program.

Depending on the training aircraft's systems, students may be given instruction in a variety of instrument approach equipment. Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) with the use of a V.O.R., Localizer & Glideslope indicator such as the KI-206 , Area Navigation (RNAV) usage with equipment such as the KNS-80 that includes Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) capability, and a GNC 300XL moving map GPS used in conjunction with an AK-950 annunciator panel are only a few systems available to Instrument rated pilots.
